30 % of Europe ’ s Cocaine Passes Through Ghana Updated: 28 -Nov -2014

Almost eight to 30 per cent of drugs entering Europe passes through Ghana, security expert
Dr Emmanuel Kwesi Aning has revealed .
Dr Aning said the situation is pushing Ghana into a state of rejection in the international
community . “ We have infrastructure that facilitates the [ drug ] trade, ” Dr Aning said. The

International Peacekeeping Training Center ( KAIPTC) made these remarks on TV 3’ s Agenda
on Thursday, November 27 .
“ We have opened ourselves up and told the international security that airport security [at the Kotoka International Airport] is ZERO,” he
pointed out .
He expressed sadness at the way issues of narcotics have been tackled in the country
especially between the two leading political parties . “There is a certain acceptability. ”
He recommended that those appointed to fight drug trafficking should be well resourced and
paid well in order to insulate them from the influence of drug barons , who are behind political party funding in Ghana , he said.
