Black Stars movie to star Ghanaian actor 12.10.2014

The Hollywood movie of the Blacks Stars' catastrophic World Cup will star a Ghanaian actor, not The Rock
One Ghanaian actor may be set for
Hollywood's limelight very soon, according to Darryl Wharton-Rigby, the writer of 'The Ghana Soccer Heist Movie'. Initially, it was thought that The Rock would be the movie's main character, when
Wharton-Rigby himself was quoted as having mentioned the famous actor and wrestler. Ghana's Black Stars made the news in Brazil when they had $3million in appearance fees airlifted to them before taking to the field against Portugal, amidst threats of boycotting the game altogether. Now the writer of the proposed Hollywood movie has told the BBC that he is looking to have the main character in the movie acted out by a Ghanaian. "I saw a story online about the money being
delivered to the Black Stars and posted it on my Facebook page", Wharton-Rigby said. "A friend of mine who is a director as well as
a producer and said let's do it. Let's do the Ghana Soccer Heist movie" What we wanted to do is focus on the guy who is has to deliver the money and what
happens to him when he's trying to deliver the money.....and what happens if he doesn't get it there in time." "It is probably going to be a bit more fictitious; because we don't want to get into trouble with FIFA, but the backdrop of the
story is fascinating." Concerning reports that The Rock would have
a leading role in the movie, he denied the claim. "Well, not The Rock. I actually want the hero
of the story to be a guy from Ghana. The hero should be a guy from the community who is entrusted with getting the money to the team." "The question is how does he get there? Who tries to stop him, and why do they try to stop him?" "Hopefully we can write a great script and get somebody who is attached to it. It is a great
story and I think audiences internationally will take to it."
Wharton-Rigby already has an image of the movie poster engraved in his mind. "Lots of money, soccer balls, a stadium and a guy on the run", he said.
