The Hollywood movie of the Blacks Stars' catastrophic World Cup will star a Ghanaian actor, not The Rock
One Ghanaian actor may be set for
Hollywood's limelight very soon, according to Darryl Wharton-Rigby, the writer of 'The Ghana Soccer Heist Movie'. Initially, it was thought that The Rock would be the movie's main character, when
Wharton-Rigby himself was quoted as having mentioned the famous actor and wrestler. Ghana's Black Stars made the news in Brazil when they had $3million in appearance fees airlifted to them before taking to the field against Portugal, amidst threats of boycotting the game altogether. Now the writer of the proposed Hollywood movie has told the BBC that he is looking to have the main character in the movie acted out by a Ghanaian. "I saw a story online about the money being
delivered to the Black Stars and posted it on my Facebook page", Wharton-Rigby said. "A friend of mine who is a director as well as
a producer and said let's do it. Let's do the Ghana Soccer Heist movie" What we wanted to do is focus on the guy who is has to deliver the money and what
happens to him when he's trying to deliver the money.....and what happens if he doesn't get it there in time." "It is probably going to be a bit more fictitious; because we don't want to get into trouble with FIFA, but the backdrop of the
story is fascinating." Concerning reports that The Rock would have
a leading role in the movie, he denied the claim. "Well, not The Rock. I actually want the hero
of the story to be a guy from Ghana. The hero should be a guy from the community who is entrusted with getting the money to the team." "The question is how does he get there? Who tries to stop him, and why do they try to stop him?" "Hopefully we can write a great script and get somebody who is attached to it. It is a great
story and I think audiences internationally will take to it."
Wharton-Rigby already has an image of the movie poster engraved in his mind. "Lots of money, soccer balls, a stadium and a guy on the run", he said.

Tell Ghanaians The Truth About Our Debts – Economist Date: 11 -Oct- 2014
An Economist , John Gatsi , has advised government to immediately respond to the
contradictory debt to GDP figures put out by the International Monetary Fund (IMF) on Ghana .
According to him, failure to do so will pave the way for more conjecture “and that will actually
muddy the waters .” The IMF’s Deputy Director of Fiscal Affairs
Department of the IMF, Sanjeev Gupta on Tuesday disclosed that Ghana’s debt to GDP was 71% contrary to the 55% put out by the
government . A Member of Parliament’ s Finance Committee ,
Kwaku Kwarteng , told Citi News, the revelation indicates that the government is hiding the true state of the economy, adding that ,
government may have lied to the IMF in order to reduce the conditionalities which will accompany the IMF bailout. Ghana is scheduled to begin an IMF bailout programme in January 2015 to solve the challenges facing the economy. Industry players warned government to present
the true state of the economy to the IMF after a former Deputy Governor of the central bank
challenged the inflation and exchange rate figures put out by the central bank and the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) . But this revelation suggest that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia’ s claims and the fears expressed by industry players may have been true.
Nonetheless , Mr . Gasti wants the central bank and the Finance Ministry to either confirm or deny the IMF’s figures . He said it is imperative they respond immediately because the credibility of the nation is at stake and so is the sovereign management of the economy. The Economist stressed that citizens have the right to know the truth because “ people are apprehensive about that and it is incumbent on them to come out .”
“ When they speak out , then we will be able to carry the analysis forward but I don’ t think we should trivialize the response of the Ministry of Finance and the Bank of Ghana . It is crucial so that we know the direction we are going," he added.

Ghana Police Says Lawyer Maurice Ampaw Has Given Them Some Information on the Whereabout of Castro + They Have Not Considered Asking Investigative Journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas For Help.
It has been more than 2 months since the bizarre disappearance of Ghanaian Hiplife musician, Castro (real name Theophilus Tagoe) and his alleged girlfriend- Janet Bandu, and we’ve got no real info except
that incalculable number of people claim to know their whereabouts.
One of such people , whose claims have amounted to nothing , is Maurice Ampaw – a private legal practitioner . Lawyer Ampaw made various claims last month, saying he knows the whereabout of
Castro, citing 30th September, 2014 as the deadline for the revelation of his assertions. When Ampaw was contacted on the said date, he emphatically told Ghanaians that he owes nobody
explanation. According to him , he had reported and made his claims available to the police so there’s no need of informing the public (as
opposed to his earlier statements).
In relation to this, ASP Benefo Darkwa – PRO for Ghana Police Service – this morning spoke on Channel R , an Accra-based radio station . According to ASP Benefo, Dr. Ampaw visited their outfit somewhere last week and gave them some information . As to
the kind of information given, nobody knows because ASP Benefo did not reveal what Dr. Ampaw went to disclose to them . As he put it , the ethics of Ghana Police
Service constrain them to put out
information given them by a citizen. However, they are processing the information given to them by Dr. Ampaw to find Castro . He therefore urged all Ghanaians who have any information with
regards to Castro ’s disappearance to visit their outfit and help them investigate the matter. Speaking on whether the police will seek the help of ace Ghanaian investigative
journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas , to find the truth surrounding Castro’ s strange disappearance, ASP Benefo said they do not have any idea about that. Nonetheless ,
when it becomes necessary for them to engage the investigative journalist, the Ghana Police will comment on that.

NSS rot: Illiterates register for National Service
Investigations are underway to unravel how illiterates managed to get National Service identification cards to serve as service persons.
Some service persons have also been found to be either secondary school leavers or never entered any tertiary institution.
Mostly, young people are eligible for national service after successfully completing tertiary
education. However, during investigations, the investigators found out that some of the
unqualified service personnel could not write their names.
Some officials of the National Service Scheme (NSS) are alleged to have connived with illegal recruitment agencies to recruit the unqualified persons for a fee.
These unqualified persons were given identification cards and posted to parts of the country to do their service. Five of them were picked up by operatives of the Bureau of National Investigations (BNI) in the Western Region while going through the registration procedure. The Daily Graphic has gathered that some of the suspects either used fake documents or
impersonated in order to be admitted as service persons.
According to sources, the five were sent to Accra for prosecution but the circuit court declined jurisdiction. “For that matter, we have sent them back to the Western Region to face the law,” the sources explained. “People are using all sorts of means to erode
the public purse but we are bent on bringing their activities to an end. These illegal acts cannot continue if we want to progress as a
nation,” they said. They said investigations were ongoing to weed out such persons from the NSS payroll. The Daily Graphic also learnt that fake labour recruitment agencies connive with some
officials of the NSS to register non-tertiary students. From the Western Region, Moses Dotsey
Aklorbortu reports that the arrested persons would be put before court on Monday, October 13, 2014. Meanwhile, six regional directors of the NSS have been picked up in connection with
ongoing investigations into the GH¢7.9 million scandal at the scheme. They are Nana Fosu Amankwa Agyapong, Eastern Region; Alhaji Shaibu Abiru, Northern; George Naanwinyelle Dasah, Upper East; Gabriel Nyorkeh, Volta; Michael Tottime,
Western, and Seth Asiedu, Greater Accra. Also apprehended is the Kwahu North (Afram Plains) District Director of the scheme, Samuel
Brempong. Twenty-seven district directors who were picked up on Wednesday, October 1, 2014
have been granted bail, with two sureties each to be justified.
